DHL Express has made it easier and faster to ship medical samples from Brazil to the United States. The new next-day service helps doctors and labs get test results quicker. This is good news for people in South America and Puerto Rico who take part in medical studies.
The service is part of DHL’s Medical Express (WMX) program. It helps move samples from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Puerto Rico to labs in the U.S. in under 30 hours. Fast delivery helps doctors run tests on time and give better care to patients.
Why Speed Is Important
Medical samples must arrive fast. Some tests only work if the samples are fresh. With this new service, DHL keeps samples safe using special cool boxes. The boxes can keep things cold, frozen, or at room temperature.
This helps labs test samples like blood, saliva, or tissue. These tests help doctors learn more about diseases and create better treatments.
DHL Makes Shipping Easy
Sending medical samples is not easy. It needs many forms and rules. DHL handles all that for its customers.
In Brazil, DHL starts export steps even before the samples arrive. This saves time. It also gives hospitals more time to collect samples from patients.
“We help get the right papers done early,” said Brian Bralynski from DHL Express Americas. “This helps samples fly out the same day.”
Support in Two Languages
DHL has also added a new help center in Brazil. The team speaks English and Portuguese. This helps local doctors and clinics ask questions and get help fast.
Customers can also use a website to book pickups, order supplies, and track their shipments. It’s called the Express Logistics Platform, or ELP.
Flights Help Move Samples Faster
The pandemic made it hard to fly samples from South America to the U.S. There were fewer flights. So DHL changed its flight times.
In 2023, DHL moved one of its flights from the evening to the morning. That flight goes from Miami to DHL’s U.S. hub. Now, most samples reach labs a day sooner.
“This flight change really helps,” said Bralynski. “It means quicker test results for patients.”
Safe, Reliable, and Always On
Andrew Williams, head of DHL Express Americas, said, “We know how to ship medical items the right way. Our teams watch every shipment, day and night.”
DHL offers:
- 24/7 shipment tracking
- Back-up plans in case of delays
- Special packaging for hot or cold items
- Help with all forms and customs
- Safe delivery of lab kits, test drugs, and medical devices
Big Plans for the Future
DHL is investing €2 billion over five years to grow its health care service. This will help more people around the world. It will also improve delivery in the Americas, Asia, and Europe.
This shows DHL’s strong focus on medical research and patient care.
A First in Latin America
Before this, most research sites in South America used costly private couriers. DHL is the first global shipping company to offer a full service for medical research in the region.
This helps research groups save time and money. It also means patients get results faster.
